Your Days
in the Val d'Orcia
From truffle hunting at dawn to Renaissance hilltops at dusk — the perfect balance of farm experiences and Tuscan discovery.
"Every morning begins the same way: a long breakfast, the hills gilding in the light, and the quiet question — what shall we do today?"
A Taste of Everything Tuscany
Farm life in the morning, Renaissance hilltowns in the afternoon, a shared table under the stars in the evening.
Start the day with our organic breakfast: fresh eggs, home-made jams, local cheeses and cured meats, warm bread, pastries, coffee. Take as long as you like. This is Tuscany.
Before the day begins, take the children — or go alone — down to the chicken coop to collect the morning eggs. A small, simple ritual that is worth more than many attractions. The hens are waiting every morning.
Into the woods with our expert truffle hunter and trained dogs. Return to the farm for a Tuscan lunch. From €90 p.p.
Fresh pasta by hand with the Chef at 10:30, then sit down to eat what you've made. From €100 p.p. (lunch included).
Both include lunch — you're ready for the afternoon.
Conceived by Pope Pius II in the 15th century, Pienza is one of the best-preserved Renaissance towns in Italy. Stroll the Corso, admire Piazza Pio II, and don't leave without tasting Pecorino di Pienza. The views from the town walls over the Val d'Orcia are simply unforgettable.
Climb to one of Tuscany's most majestic hilltowns, home of the celebrated Vino Nobile. Via Gracciano, Piazza Grande, a glass at an enoteca, and a view from the top that takes in the entire Val d'Orcia.
Get back a few minutes before aperitivo. Walk slowly towards the neighbour's house, or up to the tree on the hill. The sun going down over the Crete Senesi. The silence. The dogs will almost certainly come with you. This is the moment of the day our guests remember most.
Prosecco in hand, the hills turning amber and rose. Meet the other guests, share stories from the day, and let Tuscany do its thing.
Multi-course menu prepared daily with farm and local ingredients. Water, coffee and dessert included. Wine available. €45 p.p.
Saddles, Springs and Sunsets
A morning on horseback through the Tuscan woods, then the magical thermal village of Bagno Vignoni and the tree-lined piazzas of San Quirico.
Slow mornings, fresh eggs, local cheeses and cured meats, home-made jams, coffee.
A morning visit to the chicken coop before the day gets going. The hens of Spedalone are waiting every morning — bring the children if you have them.
Start Day One with an authentic farm experience — truffle hunt with trained dogs (from €90 p.p., lunch included), or cooking class with our Chef (€100 p.p., lunch included).
Renaissance streets, Pecorino tastings, Vino Nobile and panoramic views from the hilltops.
Before pulling into the farm, park the car and walk the white road towards the solitary tree on the hilltop. The light at this hour — raking golden across the Crete Senesi — is the postcard you've seen. Except it's real, and it's in front of you.
Sunset aperitivo, then community dinner at 21:00. €45 p.p.
Before breakfast, if the weather allows: walk the white road with the dogs up to the solitary tree on the hilltop. The early morning silence in the Val d'Orcia is something rare. Leave your phone in the room.
Stock up on energy — a morning in the saddle awaits.
A private ride with a professional equestrian school about 20 minutes from Spedalone. An hour on horseback through forest trails. Your group only. €120 p.p. · Min. age 14 · Long trousers and closed shoes required.
Return to the farm for our Tuscan Lunch (€30 p.p.), or head straight into San Quirico d'Orcia for a local trattoria.
The magnificent 12th-century Collegiate Church, the Horti Leonini Renaissance garden, and the authentic pace of a real Tuscan village. The town gates frame views of surrounding cypress-lined hills.
Unlike any other piazza in Italy: the centre of Bagno Vignoni is a large Renaissance thermal pool. Walk along the ancient mill canal, feel the warm thermal water, and settle into one of Tuscany's most evocative corners. The free natural pools below the village are open round the clock.
Back at Spedalone, before the aperitivo: a short walk to the neighbouring farmhouse. A view across the Val d'Orcia that opens the lungs. The particular peace that exists only away from tourist routes. Then prosecco.
Return to Spedalone for the golden-hour aperitivo, then the community dinner under the stars. €45 p.p.
