Francesco Illy, erede della celebre dinastia triestina del caffè, cercava solo una bella casa in Toscana quando nel 1997 acquistò 54 ettari di terra selvaggia da un pastore sardo a Castelnuovo dell'Abate. Se ne innamorò profondamente, piantò le prime viti tre anni dopo, e nel 2011 convertì l'intera tenuta al biodinamico certificato Demeter.

Oggi Podere Le Ripi è molto più di una cantina: un ecosistema agricolo vivente di 60 ettari tra foreste, vigneti, oliveti, 200 arnie e orti sinergici. Ogni vino nasce da una singola parcella — un'espressione diretta e senza compromessi del terroir.

Francesco Illy, heir to the famous Trieste coffee dynasty, was simply looking for a beautiful house in Tuscany when he bought 54 wild hectares from a Sardinian shepherd near Castelnuovo dell'Abate in 1997. He fell deeply in love with the land, planted the first vines three years later, and converted the entire estate to certified Demeter biodynamic farming in 2011.

Today Podere Le Ripi is far more than a winery — a living 60-hectare agricultural ecosystem of forest, vineyards, olive groves, 200 beehives and synergistic vegetable gardens. Every wine comes from a single plot — a direct, uncompromising expression of its terroir.
